1pm. We are loaded up and northbound on i-75 for the 4+ hour drive from Cincinnati to Detroit. Even with a stop for needed provisions at a Meijer in Bowling Green, we pulled up to the valet entrance of our hotel at 5pm, on the dot. No traffic, and no weather to speak of, we made great time. We’re staying at the Courtyard Downtown Detroit and were upgraded to a suite on the 19th floor, end room with screaming view of the River and an outside balcony.
8pm. We ventured outside the hotel, climbed aboard the People Mover to the Greektown stop and had an okay dinner at Fishbones, followed by a dessert at Cold Stone. 11pm, we are back in the room, ready to hit the sack.
Friday, 8/17/12. We slept past 9am. The boys played while I gassed up and returned the rental car by Noon. For the afternoon, we walked across the street to the Renaissance Center and took in the afternoon showing of The Campaign. I give it, 2.5 stars. Batman was much better. On our way back across Jefferson, we took a spin through the new car display on the first floor of the General Motors Headquarters at the Renaissance Center.
