Progressive Field #23

Monday, July 4, 4pm - we took a 20 minute cab ride from the airport and checked into our hotel. The boys took a swim and we walked a couple of blocks to dinner at the Cleveland Chop House. Our first choice, Blue Point, was closed. After dinner we walked around the river landing and headed back to the room for our front row seat view of the Cleveland fireworks show. Kinda weird watching fireworks behind glass, with its oddly muffled, and seemingly deflected sound, but not fighting traffic nor crowds was the big payoff. We ordered room service dessert and crashed.
Tuesday, July 5, 8am - We had breakfast downstairs and then walked the few blocks to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Charlie had a toe-stubbing mishap along the way, but rallied in the most brave way. We drained the exhibits on all six levels and exited into the bright, midday July sun and regrouped back at the hotel. We grabbed lunch, took a swim and got ready for the game.
6:30pm - We enter Progressive Field in left field and head to our seats. Yankees batting practice was just ending. CC Sabathia was on the hill for the Yankees; it was not a fair fight. Tribe 2, Yankees 9. Charlie made friends with a Yankee fan to his right. The Sox/NYY banter back and forth was comical. Way to go Charlie!
10pm - we are back in the hotel; pondering room service and happy that the BBT 2011 has concluded without a single rain out or flight cancellation.
