7/2/10 8am: The boys slept while I tended to calls and email. We got under the wire for “last call” for breakfast in the Concierge Lounge. We were out the door by 10:30 and on our way to O’Hare and through security by 11:15. We killed 40 minutes in the Admiral’s Club and then made the trek to K-18, which by the way, is the furthest possible point from the curb at ORD. Our flight was on time (aided by the 12th consecutive day of PERFECT weather). We landed STL and rode the MetroLink about 45 minutes to the Union Station stop and then walked the short distance to the Marriott. Definitely the most funky (if not twisted) example of Bill Marriott’s vision; the hotel occupies the space that was once the center of the USA passenger rail universe.
The game was about a 3 / 10 on the excitement scale, as the Cardinals blanked the Brewers 5 to 0. All in all, it was a phenomenal night for a baseball game. Again, the weather played a huge role.
